Politics - Get out to Vote!

Today is our primary in Wisconsin so I urge you all...GO VOTE!!

That being said, I really HATE discussing politics. I avoid it at all costs. My Dad can go on and on and on and well, ON. I grew up with it so I know when to tune it out, smile and nod. My husband...can also go on about politics. Yeah...keeping them out of the same room or making them promise not to discuss it...because I HATE listening to it especially when they're on different ends of the spectrum belief wise. I won't even debate my husband on politics. Typically we just vote, cancel each other out and go on with life.

I just had a customer call in today and instead of the typically banter on the weather the question was, Who are you voting for? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That's like asking the balance in my checking account. I don't KNOW you, do you really think I want to get into a political discussion with you? NO!!

But, we do have a good tradition. As a kid we voted as a family. Even before I was old enough to vote, I still went along for the process. Now, Mom is in our same district so the three of us always go together to vote and then go out for dinner.

Good job! I can't believe someone asked you how you voted!! The whole in-family debating thing makes my head hurt. I just keep my mouth shut (which is OOOOHHH so difficult!!) and vote when the time comes.

Good for you! I took my son and daughter to the polls when they were young. My son, who could never keep quiet, said at the top of his lungs, "You are voting for Bush, Mommy aren't you? Grandmother said to."

Good thing my husband is British and can't vote here yet. He's so clueless and we'd probably end up cancelling each other's vote as well.

Hugs,
Cathy

Glad to hear you are voting, we won't until June, so by then it probably won't really matter.

I ran the lastt municipal election as a candidate for Alderman. I can't tell you how many people DON't vote. These same people will banter on about the state of the city, or country affairs and yet they didn't use their opportunity to vote.

It drives me mad.

hooray for you for voting! Our next vote is in 2 or 3 weeks. I will be there! So, I guess that you all are still out to dinner... I guess I will go and work on a quilt or clean or something. I am bored and cold. Well, mostly cold.

I think it's so cool that you do it as a family. My hubby and I usually just cancel each other out too. People don't seem to realize that voting is a privelege most of the world doesn't enjoy. And..asking you who you voted for? Why not just ask about your sex life too? Is nothing private?
OOPs...just slipped off my soapbox...sorry.
Love the Dwirlling DVD so far...thanks for the recommendation

I'm like you Jen I hate to talk politics, Your dad was probably al about it being military.. I realize it affects me directly but just hate to talk about it. Now when people ask me what I think of Bush and whats going one.. I always say I don't know.. I'm just doing my job and those orders come from some one higher than me

Thought about you (and the other Michigan bloggin' ladies) yesterday when the TV was discussing the voting. I believe politics has it's place - but not to ask some one right out who they voted (or will vote) for.

But must say, everyone should vote. If you don't then you don't have as much of a right to criticize the results.

Can't belive the cheek of someone to ask that question??? Many families, including my brothers and sisters....never discuss politics.....way to risky in our larger family. Colleen

http://www.pyzam.com/bloggertemplates

right there.....but be careful not to pull a Regina and have to start all over.... They have loads of templates. I don't know how long I'll have this one with so many to choose from. I ALMOST picked a cartoon dog one that I loved and will have to eventually change to that one....just cause I can I guess.

You missed it earlier..... I had put another rule in your rules on the google doc page.... I made it number 13 and it said: Use the "How to for Dummies" for all directions given to ReginaD" But I took it out after I thought about how much time and energy you put into helping me with all my "duh" moments....thanks for that......

See ya....
Regina

I tried to email this to you about the blog template, but your mail was returned undeliverable again. I don't know why....
