It was Dusty so they Threw it OUT

Yep. That is the fate of the tree skirt that I made for our work Christmas Tree a few years back. I found that out when I asked about our naked Christmas Tree.

I'd really like to find out who made this decision. Not that I'd have the guts to say anything but dang it I'm hurt. Not just the skirt mind you, but all the Christmas Decorations that were purchased not even 5 years ago. WHO DOES THAT????? A tree skirt? It can be washed. It could be donated to Goodwill, it could have been given back to me.

THROWN OUT BECAUSE IT WAS DUSTY! Not tossed accidentially, not tossed because it was damaged. Tossed for being DUSTY because the stuff wasn't put away properly.

I'm hurt, I'm infuritated, and the list of people that are worthy of anything quilted has just grown SHORTER. My list of people to mistrust, LONGER.

Tree Skirt

Happy Festivus to the rest of us from the self appointed Christmas Grinch. Bring on the aluminum festivus pole. Air your greviences and enjoy the feats of strength!!

Good thing that doesn't happen with people.

I'm sure I've collected enough dust in the weight of gold to have been thrown out by now,

Really?!? Are these people NUTS???

Do they throw their clothes out after wearing them?!?

That's insane Jen - I'd don't get why some people feel so entitled to make decisions such as that! Perhaps they didn't realize someone had actually handcrafted the tree-skirt. I'd be hurt too!

Those nuts are so unquilt worthy it isn't even funny. Who in their right mind tosses something out because it's dusty? Heck I'd have to toss out everything I own if that were the case.

That is just a sad thing that something so cute ended up in the trash.

Some how I stumbled across your blog, and I enjoy reading, and another good thing - your from WI too! :)

Those ba$$tard$! As we have discussed before, some people simply are not quilt worthy. I would have made a scene. (I have absolutely no self-control when I get really angry and THAT would have made me crazy mad!)

Those people suck! I thought dust was a good thing, it's where we all leave notes for each other. Just leave a message in the dust! Thanks for the Festivus reminder. I really miss Kramer. Happy Festivus to you, Jen! Now.....

I'm with Suzan, I'd have made a big scene! Really big! Some people are so thoughtless.....

Wow! I'd have nothing left in my house if dust was a 'reason' to toss something! I'd find out who it was and throw a fit.... at least make them buy new ornaments and decorations for the tree. Sometimes people really amaze me at how stupid they are.
Hope you have a better day.

I am so sorry Jen, what they did was inexcusable in my opinion...it was gorgeous.

That would be the last time I'd do something like that. A long time ago, a friend of mine won a small kids quilt and gave it to her daughter. Her daughter used it for a pad in the playpen. UGGGGHHH.
Some people just don't appreciate something nice.

Unbelievable. So sorry to see such a cute tree skirt treated so badly.

Am I the only one who thinks someone TOOK it and just said they threw it out?

I'm sorry for whatever kind of thoughtlessness occurred.

I can top your story ... I made a darling little quilt for a grandson who was Intensive Care for 6 months waiting for a heart transplant, and the quilt was STOLEN!. People are amazingly terrible at times.

Wow, you have every right to be peeved. The least they could have done was give it back to you. They should get coal in their stockings!!!

dude. seriously? what a bunch of bull. you need to raise some hell. I probably wouldn't either... but so totally deserving.

I'm surprised that as such a prolific quilter, your "worthy of hand crafted items" list still can extend past two counting hands. sometimes, it's not one person but their spouse who makes it not worth it... I made a baby quilt for a friend (really cute and soft - backed with minkee). she ooohed and aaahed and I know she really appreciated it. her husband... nothing. I hung out with him all night wednesday. NOTHING. not even, "oh that was cool, thanks." makes me not want to make any for their pending bundle of joy (due a month after their first child's first birthday). (sigh)

OMG - how horrible are these people!!! Definitely NOT anything worthy - let alone quilt worthy.

Bring on the Festivus Pole! then hit them up the side of the head with it!

They lost their minds because it is so wonderful! I would probably be doing cubical to cubical questioning EVERYONE.

They want a naked tree, tell 'em to have at it!
