So Dull – What to Do?

Dull Sewing Machine Needles and Rotary Blades that is. I’ve kept mine in a box in my sewing cabinet drawer for as long as I can remember. My box is getting full so it’s time to decide how to dispose of them. What do you do with yours? I figure I’m going to need to tape this box shut but is that safe enough for disposal?IMG_0191

May your needles and rotary blades always be sharp and your seams be straight!

I save the containers the blades come in, store them in it, til full then...tape it up and toss it. Needles, I put them in an old medicine bottle with the screw on lid. Woohooo!

I put the needles back in the packages and mark as used. The blades I have a used pack and put them all in there, tape up and throw away.

I think that taping the box will be just fine.

That is wonderful that you bring this subject up! It is something we all have in common. I keep my used blads in the pack they came in marked used. But the needles are something else again. I have a
large pile too! Putting them in a medicine bottle with a screw top is a good idea.

So many good ideas. I put the old blade in the container the new one came in, tape it shut and toss it. Needles - well still being a newbie - I don't have too many of these so they have just been tossed out in the garbage. However, I will now keep an old medicine container for the old needles.

I immediately thought of those safety boxes for used needles you see in hospitals for their disposal...silly huh?!?

I have mine in a snap close container. I have to put everything away or Lilly likes to steal the pins off the magnetic holder and I'm afraid she'll get hurt.

I have a breath mint box that I put my needles and pins in--it is almost ready to tape up and toss. The blades I sharpen and reuse. There is an awesome sharpener on the market- http://www.usasharpeners.com/blade_sharpener.htm
I have hubby sharpen mine and I think I am using ones now that have been done 3 times now. The first time he sharpened my 8 blades, it paid for the sharpener.
