Dear Anonymous, ever hear of being tired? I don't have the time to stalk blogs of people I don't like yet you do? Seriously GO AWAY!! Stop reading. Unsubscribe! It's as easy as that!

Regarding the "prizes," it's not a prize, it's a raffle where all the proceeds go to St. Jude's Research Hospital; an organization I support whole heartedly. Whether your name is drawn for a raffle item or not, you've won because that's more dollars going into the care of children or the research to combat these illnesses. I've guessing you've never known someone who has been touched by cancer, because if you have, you'd certainly be singing a different tune.

Ryan Braun

I'm so excited for my friend Chelsy. She ran across Ryan Braun last night at Bayshore Mall so she was able to get her picture taken with him! For those of you who don't know he's a Milwaukee Brewer.

I never would have had the guts to go up to him and ask to take a picture.

Giggle, is it weird that this shot is now my wallpaper on my computer at work?

Fabric Shack

Our next stop on Thursday was the Fabric Shack.

moneik 061

This was where we were to meet Regina the incontinent. Giggle. She's gonna kill me for publishing that moniker that Jill gave her. (really it's harmless...but Jill was giving her a hard time that she stopped twice for bathroom breaks on her trip from NY when we told her she could only have one stop. Giggle)

So we get into the shop and Jill calls Regina A to see if she's there. Regina says she's in the bathroom, Jill relays this so I just go on my merry way shopping...not realizing it's a JOKE. So now the joke is on me because I'm the only one not making my way to the back of the store to meet Regina.

Only me right?

So we shopped...and between the 7 of us, I think this might have been where we left the most money behind! I just love that store. The PW is big and has a lot of cool stuff but I see that stuff every time I work. This is just enormous and has lines that are opposite of ours so in person it's all NEW to me stuff.

I picked up this Summer Fun turnover. I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet, but we have some of the yardage at our shop so I'll be able to come up with something pretty cool I think. Maybe a hanging for my front door?

I found the rest of the batiks so that now I can make my Braided Star!! The flower batik is the one that I found at Sew Ezy.

SN852981

This fabric I had already purchased online a week earlier from the Fabric Shack, I just opted to pick it up while we were going to be in town. You might remember me cutting up some fabric a week or more ago that this will go with.

SN852982

I also picked up some additional yardage for my Pink Rosie the Quilter wallhanging. You'll see that as well as fabric for a pillow case that I made for Sherry in another post a few posts from now.

We stopped next for lunch and indulged in pie...

Sew-Ezy

Our third stop on Thursday was Sew-Ezy where Jill purchased her Janome 6600P. The shop is in an old Bungalow Style house and every nook and cranny is filled. It was a lot of fun to look through.

They also had this cute metal hanging sign:

I couldn’t pass up this adorable dog panel. I’ll have to make Holly a blankie or something out of it.

I spied some really cute Kim Schaefer wall hangings made up so I took a picture so I can go back to them next time I need a cute idea.

Aunt Ruth's Scrap Basket

Our second stop on Thursday was Aunt Ruth’s Quilt Shop. I thought their quilt shop flag, mosaic quilt and open sign were pretty cute.

We also took a group shot outside…and it was the last one we remembered to take while shop hopping.

While at Aunt Ruth’s I noticed that they had put a really neat spin on the Charm Party Tote; they added ties to the sides to draw it in.

Since I had just finished my own Charm Party Tote I decided to add the ties to it. I LOVE how it looks!!

Only one small purchase at Aunt Ruth’s. They had a lot of nice things but most of it was fabric that I could get at home.

Stitches Quilt Shop

Thursday morning started out with us getting our butts in gear and then waiting for Jennifer to arrive. Once she did, we were on to start our adventure. Lucky for us, she offered to drive so that we could all be together in her mini van.

SN852856

Our first stop was Stitches. Stitches is a cute little shop, I enjoyed my stop there last year too. I made a pretty friviolous purchase...a bakery bag full of fabric selvedge ends. Now, I know what you're thinking, you're going to do what with them?? Well, I realize I will never take the time to actually cut the selvedges off of each fabric to begin with so I might as well just start off with a bag of them. I have a few specific projects in mind; a notebook cover, a notions bag; little things like that.

SN852984

It was at this shop that I originally saw the pattern Hot Shots by Maple Island Quilts but they were out of it. I was pretty bummed. I figured I'd have to pick it up online.

My only other purchase was a piece of Frog Fabric that I knew my friend Marilyn was looking for.

SN852969

Outside of Stitches were some of these Giant Squirrels. In Wisconsin we have Cow that are like this. I guess in Cincinnatti they have Flying Pigs. We thought it would be a good photo op because we found one that was quilted!!

Bits N Pieces - Crowne Point, Indiana

Well, here it is, the first of my retreat posts.

Wednesday April 22nd, 2009

I thought I should say a little more about Bits N Pieces where we stopped in Indiana. I guess I'm really surprised that in this day and age they don't have a web site that I can share. They had a LOT of patterns in their shop. I found a completely new to me designer called Prairie Sky Quilting. Right off the bat I thought that one of the patterns in their "Shake Rattle and Roll" envelope would be perfect for a quilt for Mike. Little did I know a few days later I'd find an even better quilt pattern to suit Mike. Who knows, maybe Mr. a person only needs one quilt in a lifetime will end up with a few quilts. Hey, stranger things have happened! These are the two quilts that I'm tossing about. Right now I think I'm settled into Hot Shots and am thinking of doing it with football fabrics.

SN852946

I picked up a few fat quarters while at the shop. Some of the "Objects of Desire" line that goes with the rest of my kitchen, some batiks that will eventually go with the rest of my batiks that I haven't yet decided what I want to make and I just couldn't pass up the Penguin Batik.

When we finally rolled into Jill's, Moneik and Jill were outside waiting for us. I was just sooooo drained from the drive, I just wanted to get in and get situated. I couldn't wait to pull out Moneik's Bridal Quilt and Wallhanging to show her. She was pretty blown away seeing it in person.

It was sooooo great to see Jill, Max & Maisy again. I had to quickly dig out a few toys that I had brought for the kids from Holly.

No rest for the wicked...Jill had us get right to work on the quilt we were trying to get together for Linda. I sat and sewed the borders on and then got the binding put together while Jill worked on a few other projects.

It wasn't too long though until we needed to blow up the air mattresses and head to bed.

Sherry says to Moneik

Regarding to college sports fabric....

Well of course you don't have any yet, South Dakota hasn't been a state for very long.

Jill says: High Five!!

We made it to Ohio!!!

We pulled into Jill's last night around 10:30PM Eastern time. Here's the trip stats...

389 miles
6 hours 19 minutes moving time
1 hour 46 minutes of stopping for food and entertainment
8 hours 5 minutes total time

Speaking of entertainment....when Jill was in Wisconsin last October we stopped at the outlet mall and used the bathroom. When we washed our hands we cracked up at the super high powered hand dryers. It moves your skin around. Jill and I were just cracking up. So when we stopped at a wayside in Lebanon, Indiana and they had the same hand driers we HAD to take a video.

Warning though, if you have your sound turned up, turn it down or off because the dryer is LOUD.

Jill and Moneik were outside to greet us. It was soooooooooooooo exciting. We had a little drink, we handed out presents and then it was time for bed. Now, we're getting ready so that when Jen Victory gets in from Indiana we can hit the stores!!

Talk to you all later in the day.

Bits n Pieces

We just stopped at Bits N Pieces in Indiana. It was a very nice shop, we'd stop here again.

204 miles to Jill's!!
