Block #39 – 54-40 or Fight! – Racine County

Your block will finish to 6”. This means that it will physically measure 6-1/2” X 6-1/2” before it is sewn to other blocks.

Cutting Instructions & Piecing Locations for 6” Paper Pieced / Pieced Block:


(1) 1-1/2” X 13” Strip – White – for Green & White 4-patches

(1) 1-1/2” X 3-1/2” Strip – White for Black & White 4-patch

(4) 3” Squares – White – A1, B1, E1, H1

(1) 1-1/2” X 13” Strip – Green – for Green & White 4-patches

(1) 1-1/2” X 3-1/2” Strip – Black for Black & White 4-patch
(4) 2” X 3-1/2” Rectangles – Black. Place (2) right side up & (2) right side down. Sub-cut clip_image006 into 8 pieces – A2, A3, B2, B3, E2, E3, H2, H3

· Sew together Green & White 13” strips. Sub-cut into (8) 1-1/2” X 2-1/2” Sections. Sew into (4) 4-patches.

· Sew together Black & White 3-1/2” strips. Sub-cut into (2) 1-1/2” X 2-1/2” sections. Sew into a 4-patch.

**You will want to Download the file and then print the .pdf file.  When you print, make sure that scaling is turned off enabling the document to print at 100%.  Take a moment to measure.  The Solid Line along the bottom edge of section E should measure 2".  If you print directly from the Google Docs screen you might come out with a slightly smaller sized block.**
