Block #26 – Tree of Life – Walworth County

Your block will finish to 6”. This means that it will physically measure 6-1/2” X 6-1/2” before it is sewn to other blocks.

Cutting Instructions & Piecing Locations for 6” Paper Pieced Block:


(8) 1-3/4” Squares – Dark Red – B1, B4, B6, D1, D3, D5, E2, E3

(6) 1-3/4” Squares – Gold – A2, A3, B3, B5, C2, D4
(1) 3-1/4” Square – Lime, sub-cut into 2 pieces – G1

(8) 1-3/4” Squares – Lime – B2, C3, C5, D2, D6, E1, F1, F3

(5) 1-3/4” Squares – Dark Orange – A1, C1, C4, C6, F2
(1) 2-1/4” Square – Medium Blue, sub-cut into 2 pieces – A6, E4


(2) 1-3/4” Squares – Medium Blue - A7, F4
(1) 3-1/4” Square – Brown, sub-cut into 2 pieces – G2

• Sub-cut the remaining half into 2 pieces - A5, E5

(1) 1-3/4” Square – Brown – A4

**You will want to Download the file and then print the .pdf file.  When you print, make sure that scaling is turned off enabling the document to print at 100%.  Take a moment to measure.  The Solid Line along the side edge of section B should measure 6".  If you print directly from the Google Docs screen you might come out with a slightly smaller sized block.**

Mail Call!

Last week I received in the mail an awesome surprise.  My friend Mary sent me a Grundy County, Iowa Barn Quilt Calendar as a thank you for directing her on what to see when she went through Lafayette & Monroe Counties.  I was shocked!! Thank you, Thank you Mary!!!

I've also started to receive HST's in the mail for our Friendship Triangle Swap. There's still time to join in if you've been wavering!! Click HERE to read the details.  I received HST's from Gaila and Moneik so far.

English Paper Piecing

I've been working on English Paper Piecing quite a bit lately.  I finished up my 1/4" Hexagon project for the most part.  I'm going to add some piping and a black binding yet.

I also have two more Flowers for my Glace Garden completed.

Quilts on Barns - #130 Hole in the Barn Door & #131 Hour Glass

One barn, two quilts!  The owner has titled it "Farm Friendliness" and they are located at 632 N Hollow Road in Cuba City, WI.

Firecracker Bomp Pop is COMPLETE!!

I love it!

In the end I decided to go with red, white & blue variegated thread because I had so many spools of it.  It's a good thing I did because had I gone with red, I would have ruined a $10 spool of Aurifil instead of a half empty spool RA.  I accidentially put Fray Check on the spool instead of Sewer's Aide.  I realized I did it the moment I squeezed the bottle....thankfully!

Mother's Cross is located at 28078 State Road 11 in Benton, WI.

While we were there, we got a good laugh because right next door was our friend Linda's favorite block - the PURINA NINE PATCH.

Quilts on Barns - #128 Carpenter's Square

Carpenter's Square is located at 1565 County Road I in New Diggings, WI.  WOW...what a cool block!!  If I ever head back to Lafayette County this will be one I'd like to take more pictures of.  I noticed when photo editing that what I assumed to be dirty boot prints was actually names and dates of what I can only assume are their family members.

Jack's Blocks is located at 26320 County W in New Diggings, WI.  The block is hung at Anton's Saloon.  The whole town is pretty cool.  Somewhere that it might be neat to go back and spend some time photographing.
